On October 31, 2019 about five hundred people climbed to the top of 131 needles in Montserrat Mountains, in a populist action called "Llum i llibertat" (Light and Freedom) promoted by the Artistes de la República collective, to claim the independence and release of Catalan political prisoners . Its purpose was to illuminate 131 needles, each representing the presidents of the Generalitat, the Institutional Government of Catalonia.
