Little more than 30 years there were no travel magazines published in Spain. Browsing a news magazine stand many years ago I came across the first edition of the VIAJAR magazine, the first issue of its class which appeared in Spain.
The cover was taken by Catalan photographer Francesc Català Roca and it was dedicated to traveling in Mexico. It was then, on that sunny afternoon, when I decided that sooner or later I would work for this magazine.
I abandoned my teaching career and began producing photographic articles of my vacation trips. I worked plenty of odd jobs just to get by until I started seeing my photographs in print.
In 2004 the then president of Mexico personally presented to me the Lente de Plata (Silver Lens) award with which his government rewards the finest article about Mexico publishes anywhere in the world. I had done this reportage for the VIAJAR magazine.
Here I present some of the stories which have moved me significantly. You can read commentaries on them on the link.
